Numa encenação
clássica e bonita o New York City Ballet,
no David H. Koch Theater, mesmo ao lado da Metropolitan Opera, apresentou o
bailado Romeo e Julieta coreografado
por Peter Martins com música de Sergei Prokofiev.
No foyer do
teatro pode apreciar-se uma interessante e muito vistosa exposição da artista
Jihan Zencirli feita de milhares de balões coloridos de várias dimensões.
Globalmente foi
um bom espectáculo. Se a orquestra revelou alguns desacertos, mais notórios nos
metais, o guarda roupa muito colorido (de Per Kirkeby e Kristen Nielsen) foi
uma mais valia que ajudou a perceber o enredo sem qualquer dificuldade.
A música é
belíssima, a encenação muito agradável e os bailarinos todos de grande
categoria, com natural relevo para os solistas que foram excelentes, Daniel Ulbricht (Mercutio), Sebastian Villarini-Velez (Tibaldo
(Tybalt), Joseph Gordon (Benvolio), Zachary Catazaro (Romeu) e, sobretudo, Tiler Peck (Julieta).
No que respeita
ao público e ao pessoal do teatro, ao contrário do que se passa na Metropolitan
Opera, aqui tudo é diferente. Já depois de o espectáculo começar os arrumadores
ainda instalam, com ruído, as pessoas que chegam atrasadas. Também o público é
mais barulhento, falando durante o espectáculo e tirando frequentemente
fotografias com os telemóveis, o que só é permitido depois do final.
Mas foi um
espectáculo muito agradável.

In a
classic and beautiful staging the New
York City Ballet at the David H. Koch Theater, right next to the
Metropolitan Opera, performed the ballet Romeo
and Juliet choreographed by Peter
Martins with music by Sergei
Prokofiev.
In the
foyer of the theater one could appreciate an interesting and very showy
exhibition of the artist Jihan Zencirli made of thousands of colored balloons
of various dimensions.
Overall it
was a good show. The orchestra revealed some mistakes, more noticeable in the
metals, but the very colorful dresses (of Per Kirkeby and Kristen Nielsen) was
an added value that helped to realize the plot without any difficulty.
The music
is beautiful, the staging very nice and the dancers all of great category, with
natural reference to the excellent soloists, Daniel Ulbricht (Mercutio), Sebastian
Villarini-Velez (Tibaldo (Tybalt), Joseph
Gordon (Benvolio), Zachary Catazaro
(Romeo) and, above all, Tiler Peck
(Juliet).
As for the
public and theater staff, unlike what happens at the Metropolitan Opera,
everything here is different. After the show begins the ushers still install,
with noise, the people that arrive late. Also the audience is noisier, talking
during the show and often taking pictures with the mobile phones, which is only
allowed after the end.
But it was
a pleasant nice show.
