Um breve apontamento para registar outro bom concerto na Gulbenkian,
no início da semana. Foi mais uma rara ocasião em que o jardim estava visível,
o que dá outra dimensão à sala, transformando-a num local
único e, talvez, o mais belo de Lisboa.
Ouviu-se a Amsterdam
Baroque Orchestra and Choir, dirigida por Ton Koopman, interpretando obras de Georg Philipp Telemann, Selig
sind die Toten, Das Leben ist ein Rauch,
ein Schaum e Die Donnerode, a última
escrita para um concerto de beneficência em memória das vítimas do terramoto de
1755 em Lisboa.
Os solistas, holandeses e alemães, foram homogéneos e de
qualidade assinalável, incluindo Lenneke
Ruiten (soprano), Tilman Lichdi
(tenor), Klaus Mertens (baixo) e Jasper Schweppe (baixo).
Digno de realce foi o jovem contratenor Maarten Engeltjes que nos ofereceu uma interpretação de topo. A voz
é de uma beleza invulgar e o cantor projecta-a com grande eficácia. Foi, para
mim, o melhor da noite e uma revelação.

A brief
note to mention another good concert at the Gulbenkian Foundation, earlier this
week. It was a rare occasion when the garden was visible, which gives another
dimension to the room. It transforms it into a
unique and perhaps the most beautiful concert room in Lisbon
We heard the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra and Choir, directed by Ton Koopman, interpreting works by Georg Philipp Telemann, Selig sind die Toten, Das Leben ist ein Rauch, ein Schaum and Die Donnerode, the last one written for a concert in memory of the victims of the 1755 earthquake in Lisbon.
The soloists, Dutch and German, were homogeneous and of remarkable quality, including Lenneke Ruiten (soprano), Tilman Lichdi (tenor), Klaus Mertens (bass) and Jasper Schweppe (bass).
Worthy of emphasis was young countertenor Maarten Engeltjes that offered us a top quality interpretation. His voice is of an unusual beauty and the singer projected it with great effectiveness. It was, for me, the best of the night, and a revelation.
