A BELA ADORMECIDA / The Sleeping Beauty, New York City Ballet, Fevereiro / February 2019

O bailado A Bela Adormecida, com música de P I Tchaikovsky e coreografia de Peter Martins (Segundo Marius Petipa) e cenografia de David Mitchell esteve em cena no New York City Ballet no início do ano.

Conduziu a Orquestra local o maestro Andrews Sill.

É uma encenação muito clássica e vistosa, agradável de ver. O guarda-roupa (de Patricia Zipprodt) é exuberante e muito colorido. A colocação da acção nos vários locais onde decorre é feita por pinturas projectadas sucessivas, num efeito bem conhecido, e a viagem de barco do príncipe e da fada boa para o castelo, no meio do nevoeiro, é de uma invulgar beleza.

Quanto aos bailarinos, não sendo eu um especialista, foram globalmente bons. As intervenções de conjunto foram bonitas mas, por vezes, o sincronismo dos movimentos não foi perfeito. Os solistas principais foram Teresa Reichlen (fada Lilac), Maria Kowroski (fada Carabosse), 

Russell Janzen (príncipe Désiré) e Streling Hyltin (princesa Aurora), a protagonista e a melhor bailarina da noite, correctíssima nos movimentos e transmitindo uma sensação de leveza como se tudo fosse suave e fácil.

Um clássico bem dançado é sempre um espectáculo agradável.

THE SLEEPING BEAUTY, New York City Ballet, February 2019

The ballet The Sleeping Beauty, with P I Tchaikovsky's music and choreography by Peter Martins (after Marius Petipa) and set design by David Mitchell was on stage at the New York City Ballet earlier this year.

The conductor of the local Orchestra was Andrews Sill.

It is a very classic and showy performance, pleasant to watch. The dresses (by Patricia Zipprodt) are lush and very colorful. The placement of the action in the various places where it takes place is made by successive projected paintings, in a well-obtained effect, and the voyage of boat of the prince and the good fairy to the castle, in the fog, is of an unusual beauty.

The dancers (I am not an expert) were globally good. The interventions of the group were beautiful but sometimes the timing of the movements was not perfect. The main soloists were Teresa Reichlen (fairy Lilac), Maria Kowroski (fairy Carabosse), Russell Janzen (Prince Désiré) and Streling Hyltin (Princess Aurora), the protagonist and the best dancer of the night, very correct in movements and conveying a feeling of lightness as if everything were smooth and easy.

A well danced classic ballet is always a nice show.
